Kids Day at the Krannert...

Today I will begin my post with something that I LIKE about Champaign, IL. I like that there are a lot of activities for kids and many of them are free or inexpensive. At least in the summer months. We will see what the winter brings..

Yesterday we went to the Kids Day at the Krannert Museum in Champaign.

Sidebar....Can I say that 98% of the time, when I do leave the house, it's for some kid related destination or activity. So why is it that we have to fight the kid, to get moving, get dressed, to show any kind of enthusiasm about the trip? All the while feigning excitement and good will when we would have been more content to stay in bed anyway. This is me and the other half yesterday morning....
Us: Yay! Going to Kids day! Ooooh it's gonna be so much fun! Let's get ready now..
The Kid: "uuuuuuugggghhhhh...I just don't want to go.."
US: "Why?" It's going to be great! Art and Crafts! Story time! Yay!
The Kid: "okaaayyyyyy" *Moves at snails pace towards the bathroom
US: "Gotta move it! Gonna be late! Starts at 10! Gonna miss all the fun!"
The Kid: "Ok!" (with attitude) "I'm going MOM!"
This is the point where I wanna say screw it, we aren't going anywhere. But that will just result a fit that sounds like.."But I wanna go!!!" "I was getting ready Mom!"
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!" "I just wanna go!"

UGH...Anyway..we get there and of course he has a great time...
There was Music..

Arts and Crafts.

And Storytime..

It was worth leaving the house on a Saturday morning.

Sounds like it was fun. I'm sorry we missed it, but a certain young lady decided that making brownies sounded like a better deal. Glad to hear you liked it!

Popped over here from Mrs. Chicken's place.

It sounds like a great day, once you got there. Getting the kids out of the house is always the worst part, isn't it? My husband and I are certain that our elderly neighbours must consider us terrible parents, based on our frantic driveway behaviour trying to get the children into the car.

Inside the house, we're really very normal.

Popping over from Mrs. Chicken's to say I hate where I live too-I feel the pain! :)
